What is florida citrus open?

The Florida Citrus Open is a professional golf tournament, also known as The Citrus Classic, that was played in Orlando, Florida from 1966 to 1973. The tournament was played at the Rio Pinar Country Club for the most part of its history. It was sponsored by the Florida Citrus Commission and was part of the PGA Tour schedule. The tournament was known for attracting many big names in golf, such as Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, and Gary Player. In 1973, the tournament was merged with the Jackie Gleason Inverrary Classic to form the Jackie Gleason-Florida Citrus Classic. The tournament became defunct after 1983.
